Welcome to the Craftwork Studio website

What I do...?

Well, I've always been involved in crafts and recycling stuff, my papier mache bowls started off by my being horrified at the amount of paper churned out by printers and thrown away. The creatures are made entirely from newspapers and glue. Using up any odd and ends to create something unique and usable is very rewarding, cutting up old sweaters and shirts is a worry for my husband!

I think you could say, I get inspired by other people's rubbish and passing on the skills I have learnt over the decades is fun. Teaching recycled crafts is a passion and seeing others learning a new skill and going away after a session is very satisfying. Craftwork Studio is heavily into recycling even though in a very small way in the scheme of things, but we try.

Whatever we do, our aim is to be welcoming, creative relaxing and fun.

We love to hold craft parties! Choose from any of the workshops for your day / evening of therapeautic crafting. Feel free to bring cake and wine for the special occasion.

An introduction...

Craftwork Studio is a new venture situated in the village Of Old Bolingbroke. Our aim is to bring together those interested in the arts and crafts, and share knowledge in our various fields of creativity. We have Louise our sewing instructor showing you how to make cute stuffed bunnies, beautiful bags, dachsunds and dolls. Gail is an accomplished artist who will do all manner of art classes she specialises in portraits and will show you how easy it is to turn a picture of your pet into a realistic representation. My background is based on recycling odds and ends and rubbish into um.. something. After the back of our house was demolished before being rebuilt, I was aghast at all the wiring ripped out and thrown into skips so I removed as much as I could, stripped off the plastic casing and started turning the wire into quirky creatures. Well, what else would you do with it ?

Rag Rugs

Rag Rugs

Rag rugs started off being tee shirts, became too small too dated too shabby, they were then cut apart made into yarn and hooked into hessian to make usable rugs. I don't really like it when anyone stands on mine !

Papier mache bowls

Papier mache bowls

Papier mache bowls created by the endless paper churned out from printers and piles of discarded newspapers. A process of shredding soaking in water pulping mixing with glue before forming in a mould and leaving to dry for weeks then covering with more paper decorating and finally varnishing. A bit long winded but you can achieve such wonderful results.

Chairs in skips
